聚對苯二甲酸乙二醇酯是熱塑性聚酯中最主要的品種,俗稱滌綸樹脂。它是由對苯二甲酸二甲酯與乙二醇酯交換或以對苯二甲酸與乙二醇酯化先合成對苯二甲酸雙羥乙酯,然后再進(jìn)行縮聚反應(yīng)制得。與PBT一起統(tǒng)稱為熱塑性聚酯,或飽和聚酯。
1946年英國發(fā)表了第一個(gè)制備PET的專利,1949年英國ICI公式完成中試,但美國杜邦公司購買專利后,1953年建立了生產(chǎn)裝置,在世界最先實(shí)現(xiàn)工業(yè)化生產(chǎn)。初期PET幾乎都用于合成纖維(我國俗稱滌綸、的確良)。80年代以來,PET作為工程塑料有突破性的發(fā)展,相繼研制出成核劑和結(jié)晶促進(jìn)劑,目前PET與PBT一起作為熱塑性聚酯,成為五大工程塑料之一。
PET分為纖維級聚酯切片和非纖維級聚酯切片。①纖維級聚酯用于制造滌綸短纖維和滌綸長絲,是供給滌綸纖維企業(yè)加工纖維及相關(guān)產(chǎn)品的原料。滌綸作為化纖中產(chǎn)量最大的品種。②非纖維級聚酯還有瓶類、薄膜等用途,廣泛應(yīng)用于包裝業(yè)、電子電器、醫(yī)療衛(wèi)生、建筑、汽車等領(lǐng)域,其中包裝是聚酯最大的非纖應(yīng)用市場,同時(shí)也是PET增長最快的領(lǐng)域。
大量用作纖維,而工程塑料樹脂可分為非工程塑料級和工程塑料級兩大類,非工程塑料級主要用于瓶、薄膜、片材、耐烘烤食品容器等。
PET 是乳白色或淺黃色、高度結(jié)晶的聚合物,表面平滑有光澤。在較寬的溫度范圍內(nèi)具有優(yōu)良的物理機(jī)械性能,長期使用溫度可達(dá)120℃,電絕緣性優(yōu)良,甚至在高溫高頻下,其電性能仍較好,但耐電暈性較差,抗蠕變性,耐疲勞性,耐摩擦性、尺寸穩(wěn)定性都很好。PET 有酯鍵,在強(qiáng)酸、強(qiáng)堿和水蒸汽作用下會發(fā)生分解,耐有機(jī)溶劑、耐候性好。缺點(diǎn)是結(jié)晶速率慢,成型加工困難,模塑溫度高,生產(chǎn)周期長,沖擊性能差。一般通過增強(qiáng)、填充、共混等方法改進(jìn)其加工性和物性,以玻璃纖維增強(qiáng)效果明顯,提高樹脂剛性、耐熱性、耐藥品性、電氣性能和耐候性。但仍需改進(jìn)結(jié)晶速度慢的弊病,可以采取添加成核劑和結(jié)晶促進(jìn)劑等手段。加阻燃劑和防燃滴落劑可改進(jìn) PET阻燃性和自熄性。
優(yōu)點(diǎn)
1.有良好的力學(xué)性能,沖擊強(qiáng)度是其他薄膜的3~5倍,耐折性好。
2.耐油、耐脂肪、耐烯酸、稀堿,耐大多數(shù)溶劑。
3.具有優(yōu)良的耐高、低溫性能,可在120℃溫度范圍內(nèi)長期使用,短期使用可耐150℃高溫,可耐-70℃低溫,且高、低溫時(shí)對其機(jī)械性能影響很小。
4.氣體和水蒸氣滲透率低,既有優(yōu)良的阻氣、水、油及異味性能。
5.透明度高,可阻擋紫外線,光澤性好。
6.無毒、無味,衛(wèi)生安全性好,可直接用于食品包裝。
性能
PET是乳白色或前黃色高度結(jié)晶性的聚合物,表面平滑而有光澤。耐蠕變、耐抗疲勞性、耐磨擦和尺寸穩(wěn)定性好,磨耗小而硬度高,具有熱塑性塑料中最大的韌性:電絕緣性能好,受溫度影響小,但耐電暈性較差。無毒、耐氣候性、抗化學(xué)藥品穩(wěn)定性好,吸水率低,耐弱酸和有機(jī)溶劑,但不耐熱水浸泡,不耐堿。
PET樹脂的玻璃化溫度較高,結(jié)晶速度慢,模塑周期長,成型周期長,成型收縮率大,尺寸穩(wěn)定性差,結(jié)晶化的成型呈脆性,耐熱性低等。
通過成核劑以及結(jié)晶劑和玻璃纖維增強(qiáng)的改進(jìn),PET除了具有PBT的性質(zhì)外,還有以下的特點(diǎn)。

為改進(jìn)PET性能,PET可與PC、彈性體、PBT、PS類、ABS、PA形成合金。
